Yakisoba for Lunch (and Dango for Dessert!)

My host other made yakisoba and tamago chahan for lunch today.  Yakisoba is a dish of fried soba noodles with vegetables and meat which originated in China but is now considered a Japanese dish.  Tamago means egg and chahan is fried rice.  This dish was basically rice cooked with egg and some vegetables added as well.  Both were very good.  My host mother is a wonderful cook.

For dessert, my host mother bought hanami dango.  Hanami dango is traditionally eaten on March 3: Hinamatsuri (Girls' Day).  It has three colors, always in the order of red/pink at the top, white in the middle, and green at the bottom.  It was sweet enough to be good but not so sweet that the sugar was overpowering.
